Thompson, Guthrie knotted atop Honda

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., March 2 (UPI) -- Michael Thompson used a final-hole birdie Saturday to pull into a tie with rookie Luke Guthrie atop the Honda Classic leaderboard after three rounds.

Thompson and Guthrie jockeyed for the lead through most of the wind-blown round at PGA National and ended knotted at 8-under 202 through 54 holes when Thompson birdied the 18th, finishing with an even-par 70.

Guthrie settled for a par on the final hole to card a third-round 71.

Each golfer is seeking his first PGA Tour victory.

Ending the day tied for third place at 6-under were Geoff Ogilvy and Lee Westwood, each of whom registered an even-par 70.

One shot further back at minus-5 were Rickie Fowler (69) and Charles Howell III (71).
