NBA: West 143, East 138

HOUSTON, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Chris Paul had 20 points and 15 assists Sunday, earning MVP honors for the Western Conference in its 143-138 All-Star Game win over the East.

Paul's favorite passing target was Los Angeles Clippers teammate Blake Griffin, who provided plenty of spectacular slam dunks en route to 19 points for the Western all-stars.

Paul joined Isaiah Thomas (1984) and Magic Johnson (1985) as the only player to score at least 20 points and distribute 15 helpers in an NBA all-star contest.

Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant fired in a game-high 30 points on 13-of-24 shooting while grabbing six rebounds.

Houston's James Harden added 15 points, Russell Westbrook of Oklahoma City chipped in with 14 and Tony Parker of San Antonio supplied 13 for the West.

The New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony led the Eastern all-stars with 26 points and 12 rebounds.

Miami's Dwyane Wade supplied 21 with seven assists while Heat teammate LeBron James added 19 points in the loss.
