Uribe takes Women's Australian Open lead

YARRALUMLA, Australia, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Mariajo Uribe had a bogey-free, 6-under-par 67 Friday and owns a one-stroke lead halfway through the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open.

Uribe had five birdies over the first seven holes of the Royal Canberra Golf Club to get to 15-under 131 after 36 holes. Jiyai Shin, despite two bogeys, matched Uribe's 67 and is tied with teenage first-round leader Lydia Ko, who had a second-round 69, for second place at 14-under.

Kristie Smith, with a second consecutive 68, is alone in fourth at 10-under 136 and Beatriz Recari is in fifth at 9-under after a 69.

Ko, 15, had four birdies in the span of Nos. 3-7.

Uribe, playing the second nine first, opened her second round with a birdie and had another at No. 18. She added birdies at Nos. 2 and 4 before back-to-back birdies at 6 and 7 gave her the lead.

The tournament is the first event on the 2013 LPGA schedule.
