EAST LONDON, South Africa, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Adilson Da Silva finished off a strong first round, shot 4-under-par 68 in the second round Friday and leads the European Tour's Africa Open in South Africa.

Da Silva was among the large number of players on the course when play was halted Thursday because of darkness. Earlier play was suspended for several hours due to high winds.

Da Silva was 5-under through eight holes and one stroke behind clubhouse leader Jaco Van Zyl when play stopped Thursday. He was 5-under, including a chip-in eagle at No. 15, the rest of the way in the first round. He came back with a five-birdie, one-bogey second round.

That left him at 14-under 130 for the tournament, three strokes ahead of Van Zyl, who had eight birdies and three bogeys in a second-round 67.

John Parry had a 66 in the second round and is alone in third at 10-under. Oliver Bekker and Darren Fichardt, who both shot 67 in the second round, are tied for fourth at 8-under 136.

Da Silva opened his second round at the ninth hole with a par. He birdied No. 10 but gave that stroke back with a bogey at 11. Da Silva moved into the lead with birdies at 13 and 15 and pulled away with two more at the first and seventh holes.
