Snedeker closes out Pebble Beach victory

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Brandt Snedeker claimed his fifth career PGA Tour title Sunday, carding a 7-under-par 65 to finish up a two-stroke victory at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Snedeker came into the final round tied for the top spot with James Hahn but pulled away to finish 19-under 267 -- a tournament record, besting the old mark of 268 set by Mark O'Meara in 1997 and tied by Phil Mickelson a decade later.

The win is likely to net Snedeker the world No. 4 ranking when the new list is released Monday.

Grabbing sole possession of second place at minus-17 was Chris Kirk, who fired a 6-under 66 Sunday.

Hahn tumbled into third with a 2-under 70, ending up knotted with Jimmy Walker (66) and Kevin Stadler (65) at 14-under 272.

Jason Day claimed sixth at minus-13 with a 67.
