PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Danny Briere scored 1:47 into overtime Saturday, allowing the Philadelphia Flyers to pull out a 4-3 victory over Carolina.
On the winning play, Briere gained control in the slot and fired a shot to the stick side of Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward. The puck banged off the post and into the net, handing the Flyers their second win over Carolina in four games.
Brayden Schenn and Jakub Voracek each supplied a goal and an assist while Matt Read scored a goal for Philadelphia, which took seven of eight possible points over a four-game home stand.
Ilya Bryzgalov turned aside 30-of-33 shots to record the win.
Joe Corvo scored and had one assists for Carolina, which also got goals from Jiri Tlusty and Jeff Skinner as its two-game winning streak came to an end.
Ward finished with 28 stops.
