NHL: Ottawa 4, Buffalo 3

OTTAWA, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Daniel Alfredsson capped a three-goal first period with his second of the season Tuesday and Ottawa broke a two-game skid with a 4-3 win over Buffalo.

Erik Karlsson and Chris Phillips also found the net in the initial frame while Chris Neil added what turned out to be the game-winner in the second period for the Senators, who improved to 6-3-1 on the season.

Craig Anderson earned the win with 20 saves for Ottawa.

Jordan Leopold supplied a goal and a helper while Jason Pominville and Tyler Ennis also scored for the struggling Sabres, who fell for the seventh time in eight games.

Jhonas Enroth was touched for all four goals on 24 shots for Buffalo.
