DETROIT, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Calgary's Dennis Wideman supplied a goal and an assist Tuesday and the Flames bested Detroit 4-1 but lost goalie Miikka Kiprusoff to an injury.

Kiprusoff, who has started every game for Calgary, turned aside 19-of-20 shots to earn the victory but exited the contest after the second period following a collision with Detroit's Johan Franzen.

The team said Kiprusoff had sustained a "lower body injury" and wouldn't return.

Leland Irving took over and stopped all six shots he faced in the final frame.

Franzen scored and Jimmy Howard turned aside 19-of-23 shots for the Red Wings.
