Djokovic broke open a tight match with a late third-set break -- the first break of the match -- en route to a 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, 6-2 victory. It is Djokovic's sixth major tournament title, four of which have come in Melbourne.

He won his first Grand Slam championship in the 2008 Australian Open. He got his second by beating Murray in the 2011 final in Melbourne and took a five-set decision over Rafael Nadal in the 2012 Australian Open title match.

His win Sunday marked the first time since Roy Emerson, who won five times over 1963-67, that a player won the men's singles Australian Open title three consecutive years.

Tiger Woods holds 6-shot Torrey Pines lead

LA JOLLA, Calif., Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Tigers Woods held a six-shot lead at 17-under par Sunday when fourth-round play was suspended by darkness at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Woods, seeking his seventh career victory at Torrey Pines, carded a 3-under 69 in third round, which was completed Sunday after thick fog forced a halt to play Saturday.

He finished seven holes of the final round before play was shut down Sunday, and was standing at 6-under.

The final round is set to resume Monday at 2:10 p.m. Eastern.

Defending champion Brandt Snedeker stood at 4-under par in final round, grabbing a share of second place at minus-11, along with 2009 winner Nick Watney, who was working on a 3-under par fourth round.

Sharing fourth place at minus-9 were Brad Fritsch, Steve Marino and Casey Wittenberg.

BOSTON, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Boston Celtics all-star guard Rajon Rondo has a torn knee ligament and will likely miss the rest of the season, the team announced Sunday.

Rondo sustained the injury during Friday's double-overtime loss to Atlanta.

It was originally diagnosed as a hyperextended right knee, but a magnetic resonance imaging exam revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament, the Celtics said.

A date for surgery to repair the knee will be set soon.

Rondo is the NBA's assists leader, averaging 11.1 helpers per game, while posting a per-game scoring average of 13.7 points over 38 contests this season.

The Celtics beat Miami 100-98 in double overtime Sunday.

Report: Stun gun used on Williams

HONOLULU, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams was shocked by police wielding stun guns during a nightclub altercation in Hawaii, ESPN reported Sunday.

ESPN football writer Adam Schefter wrote on his Twitter account that Williams was "Tasered" in the back and hit in the head with a champagne bottle during the brawl, which happened early Friday at a Honolulu nightclub, police say.

Williams was in Honolulu to participate in Sunday's Pro Bowl.

The NFL announced Friday Williams wouldn't play in the game and had been replaced by Minnesota Vikings rookie left tackle Matt Kalil.

Schefter reported Williams has passed a pair of concussion tests since the incident.

Honolulu Police said three men were hurt during the fracas, with two -- including Williams -- requiring brief hospitalization. A fourth man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and authorities indicated additional arrests were likely.
