NHL: Winnipeg 5, New York Islanders 4 (OT)

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Evander Kane scored 1:59 into overtime Sunday, completing a Winnipeg Jets comeback for a 5-4 victory over the New York Islanders.

Winnipeg trailed 4-2 midway through the third period but rallied on goals by Dustin Byfuglien and Alex Burmistrov to force an extra frame.

In overtime, Olli Jokinen corralled the puck after an Islanders turnover at center ice and skated into the left circle where he unleashed a shot that Evgeni Nabokov blocked, but Kane was there to put in the rebound for the game-winner.

Kane also had an assist while Alexei Ponikarovsky and Bryan Little each notched a goal in the victory.

Former Islander Al Montoya stopped 21-of-25 shots for the win.

Matt Moulson had a goal and an assist while David Ullstrom, John Tavares and Mark Streit scored for New York. Nabokov made 30 stops.
