CALGARY, Alberta, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Lee Stempniak notched a goal and two assists Saturday and the Calgary Flames recorded their first win of the season, 4-3 over Edmonton.
Jay Bouwmeester provided a goal and an assist, and Mikael Backlund and Curtis Glencross each scored a goal for Calgary, which gave Bob Hartley his first victory as the team's new head coach.

Miikka Kiprusoff turned aside 17-of-20 shots for the Flames, who began the lockout-shortened NHL season 0-2-1.
Rookie defenseman Justin Schultz recorded a goal and a pair of assists for Edmonton.
Jordan Eberle notched a goal with an assist, Sam Gagner also scored and Devan Dubnyk made 31 saves for the Oilers.
