NHL: Winnipeg 4, Pittsburgh 2

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Andrew Ladd gave Winnipeg the lead late in the second period Friday and the Jets overcame two early goals by Sidney Crosby to defeat Pittsburgh 4-2.

Ladd scored on a slap shot with 2:06 left in the middle frame to cap Winnipeg's three-goal second period.

Ondrej Pavelec protected the Jets' one-goal lead until Blake Wheeler put in an empty-net goal with 1:09 to go in the third. Winnipeg won its second in a row and Pittsburgh has dropped two straight.

Crosby, playing in Winnipeg for the first time in his career, scored his second and third goals of the season in the first period.

Evander Kane brought the Jets within one just 70 seconds into the middle period and Dustin Byfuglien tied it with 6:25 left in the stanza.

Pavelec made 33 saves to get the victory. Tomas Vokoun gave up three goals on 31 shots.
