NHL: Anaheim 7, Vancouver 3

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Anaheim's Teemu Selanne racked up two goals and a pair of assists Saturday, sparking the Ducks to a season-opening 7-3 spanking of Vancouver.

The 42-year-old Selanne capped a second-period onslaught for Anaheim, which scored four times to chase Canucks goalie Cory Schneider.

Free-agent signee Daniel Winnik also scored twice, while Corey Perry, Sheldon Souray and Kyle Palmieri each added a goal for the Ducks, who missed out on the playoffs last season.

Jonas Hiller made 26 saves in the victory.

Schneider surrendered five goals on only 14 shots before giving way to Roberto Luongo, who mopped up with 10 saves the rest of the way for defending Northwest Division champion Vancouver.

Daniel Sedin and Alexander Edler each tallied a goal and an assist for the Canucks.
