Top women's seeds all advance in Sydney

SYDNEY, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Fourth-seeded Li Na lost just one game Tuesday as the top seeds at the Apia International tennis tournament in Sydney advanced to the quarterfinals.

Li defeated Ayumi Morita 6-1, 6-0. The only game she lost came on a service break but she cashed in 6-of-14 break opportunities in six receiving games.

Even with the break, Li lost only 10 points on serve and won 69 percent of the points overall in the match.

No. 1-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska ousted Kimiko Date-Krumm 6-4, 6-3 while second-seeded Angelique Kerber stopped Galina Voskoboeva 6-2, 7-5 and No. 3-seeded Sara Errani sailed by Maria Kirilenko 6-1, 6-1. All of those winners had six service breaks on the day.

Two former world No. 1s were eliminated Tuesday. Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated seventh-seeded Caroline Wozniacki 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 6-2 and Roberta Vinci beat Jelena Jankovic 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).

Other second-round matches Tuesday saw qualifier Madison Keys beat Zheng Jie 6-0, 6-4 and Dominika Cibulkova edge past Ekaterina Makarova 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 7-6 (7-1).
