MIAMI, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Ray Allen's 3-pointer touched off a 7-0 run to start the overtime period Wednesday and launched Miami to a 119-109 victory over Dallas.
Dallas led for most of the first half and had a six-point advantage with 3 minutes to play in regulation, but the Heat rallied to win their second straight overtime decision. The Mavericks have lost each of their last nine overtime games.
Shane Battier hit a 3-pointer for Miami with 14 seconds to go in the fourth period that put the Heat in front by two, but Dirk Nowitzki tied it for the Mavericks with 4 seconds remaining.
Allen then started the overtime with his 3-point shot, after which LeBron James and Dwyane Wade scored to give Miami a 110-103 lead.
James scored 32 points, had 12 rebounds and dished out nine assists. Wade chipped in 27 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mavericks wasted a 30-point effort from O.J. Mayo; Nowitzki had 19 points and six rebounds in what was the best of the six games he has played since returning from knee surgery.
