NBA: Detroit 109, Miami 99

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Will Bynum led Detroit to a huge second quarter Friday and the Pistons held on to defeat Miami 109-99.

Miami had a six-game winning streak snapped and the Pistons defeated the Heat for the first time in eight tries.

The Heat rushed to a 15-point lead after one period, but Detroit outscored them in the second quarter 41-20. The Pistons' lead grew to as many as 15 points in the third.

Bynum scored 25 points and added 10 assists. Charlie Villanueva hit 7-of-10 from the field while scoring 18 points and Kyle Singler chipped in 12 for Detroit. It was the Pistons' third win in four games.

LeBron James delivered 35 points for Miami along with six rebounds, five assists and six steals. Chris Bosh contributed 28.

Miami played without guard Dwyane Wade, who was serving a one-game suspension for kicking Charlotte's Ramon Sessions in the groin during Wednesday's game.
