Chiefs' Bowe has broken ribs

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Kansas City wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has broken ribs and will not play in the Chiefs' game against Oakland Sunday.

Bowe leads the 2-11 team with 59 receptions and 801 receiving yards this year, has three of the Chiefs' eight touchdown catches and may be through for the year, The Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported Tuesday, noting he signed a one-year contract last summer and the game last Sunday against Cleveland may have been his last in a Chiefs uniform.

"We've got to get the other guys to step in and step up and try to get on the same page and get in rhythm," quarterback Brady Quinn said about the loss of Bowe.

The Chiefs' will depend on regular wide receivers Jon Baldwin and Dexter McCluster in Bowe's absence, as well as Steve Breaston, who has been on the inactive roster for four of the last five games, special teams member Terrance Copper, rookie Devon Wylie, and practice squad members Jamar Newsome and Josh Bellamy, the newspaper said.
