Dodgers ink S. Korean hurler for 6 years

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- South Korean pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu has signed a six-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team announced Sunday.

The agreement came as the Dodgers' exclusive window to negotiate with Ryu's South Korean team was about to close.

Los Angeles won that right by posting $25.7 million with the Hanwha Eagles.

Ryu, 25, is a seven-year veteran of the Korea Baseball Organization, compiling a 98-52 record with a 2.80 ERA during his Asian career.
