Wie shares lead in Mexico

GUADALAJARA, Mexico, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Michelle Wie, seeking to end a disappointing season on a high note, grabbed a share of the lead Thursday after one round of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.

Wie shot a 6-under 66 at the Guadalajara Country Club to tie Angela Stanford and Candie Kung for the top spot.

Stacy Lewis, coming off a win last week in Japan, was a shot back along with Inbee Park, Karine Icher, So Yeon Ryu and Cristie Kerr.

Wie has finished among the Top 20 just twice all season. The 66 was her lowest score since the second round of this year's U.S. Women's Open.

The 36-player field is taking part in the next-to-last event of the year on the LPGA Tour. The Titleholders tournament will conclude the season's action next week in Naples, Fla.

This is Wie's 22nd event of the year and she has missed the cut 10 times. She played a bogey-free round that was highlighted by four straight birdies starting at the par-5 10th.
