MLS: San Jose 1, Portland 1 (tie)

PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Chris Wondolowski tied the MLS single-season scoring record with a 24th-minute goal Saturday in the San Jose Earthquakes' 1-1 draw with Portland.

Wondolowski's boot into the bottom-left corner of the net on a penalty kick beat Donovan Ricketts and gave the San Jose striker 27 goals for the year -- tying Roy Lassiter's mark set in 1996.

He had a pair of great chances for the all-time mark later in the half but Ricketts made a save in the 65th minute and missed a header a few seconds later.

The Earthquakes, who finished with the MLS' best record at 19-6-9, will play the winner of Thursday's LA Galaxy-Vancouver Whitecaps knockout-round game next weekend.

Bright Dike tallied his fifth goal of the season in the second half to earn a point for the Timbers (8-16-10).
