ATLANTA, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Atlanta Braves General Manager Frank Wren has been given a contract extension through the 2014 season, the National League team said Friday.
Wren just completed his fifth season as the GM.
Atlanta reached the playoffs twice in his tenure. The first time was in 2010, when the Braves lost in the Division Series. The second was this past season when Atlanta, after winning 94 regular-season games, lost a wild-card elimination contest.
The team lost a substantial lead in 2011, missing the playoffs on the final day of the regular season.
Wren, 54, has been with the Atlanta organization for 13 years. He was promoted to general manager in October 2007, replacing long-time GM John Schuerholz.
The Braves also said John Coppolella was promoted to assistant general manager. He had served as director of pro scouting.
