PITTSBURGH, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is nearing the team record for passing yards, one of the Steelers' most cherished examples of excellence.

In his ninth season, he is within 300 yards of eclipsing Terry Bradshaw's club record of 27,989 yards, achieved during a 14-year career.

"To have an opportunity to beak another record -- and this one is a pretty big one," Roethlisberger said of Bradshaw's statistics.

It could happen Thursday in a game against the Tennessee Titans, a team that ranks 29th overall in defense and 25th in the league against the pass, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said Wednesday.
