MLS: San Jose 4, Colorado 1

COMMERCE CITY, Colo., Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Chris Wondolowski broke a San Jose club scoring record with three goals Saturday and the Earthquakes romped over Colorado 4-1.

The hat trick gave Wondolowski 25 tallies for the season and pushed him past Ronald Cerritos for the franchise's all-time scoring mark with his 62nd goal as an Earthquake.

The San Jose striker also moved closer to the MLS single-season scoring record of 27 goals, set by Tampa Bay's Roy Lassiter in 1996, with two contests remaining.

The Earthquakes (19-6-7) tied a club record with their 19th win and clinched the top seed in the Western Conference.

Andre Akpan also scored for San Jose.

Marvin Chavez scored in the 2nd minute for the Rapids (9-19-4).
