NEW YORK, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- NHL officials Thursday canceled all the preseason games for this season as the league's players have been locked out in a labor dispute.
The league earlier called off exhibition games through the end of the month, but on Thursday wiped out the rest of the pre-season schedule. The NHL regular season is scheduled to start Oct. 11.
The NHL and players' union scheduled a bargaining session for Friday. It would be the first such meeting since the lockout began Sept. 15.
