DENVER, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Chris Nelson's two-run single highlighted a four-run third inning Wednesday, boosting Colorado to a 6-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.
The Rockies won their third in a row and need three more victories in their last seven games to avoid a 100-loss season.

Drew Pomeranz (2-9) worked five innings in a game delayed by rain and earned the victory with a three-hit effort.
Jordan Pacheco doubled him Colorado's first run in the opening inning and he scored on a base hit by Tyler Colvin.
Charlie Blackmon touched off the four-run third inning with his second home run.
Jason Berken (0-2) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on nine hits in four innings. The Cubs have dropped four in a row.
