Shin shatters Women's British Open mark

HOYLAKE, England, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Jiyai Shin shattered a tournament record Sunday, carding a round of 1-over 73 to win by nine strokes in claiming her second Women's British Open title.

Shin finished at 9-under 279 at Royal Liverpool, shaking off windy, rainy conditions to far outdistance her closest competition -- Inbee Park at even-par 288.

Fourth place went to Mika Miyazato., who registered a 5-over 77, ending the tourney at 2-over.
