NEW YORK, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Russell Martin's three-run homer highlighted a big third inning that carried the New York Yankees to a 6-4 win over Tampa Bay Sunday.
Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez also provided RBI in the decisive frame as the Yankees took the rubber match of a three-game set and assured themselves of staying in the top spot of the American League East.
The second-place Baltimore Orioles came into Sunday trailing New York by one game.
Hiroki Kuroda (14-10) earned the victory, yielding four runs on four hits and two walks.
The Rays' Matt Moore (10-11) was tagged with the loss, lasting only three full innings. He surrendered five runs on three hits, walking four and striking out four.
Evan Longoria drove in a pair of runs for Tampa Bay and fell five games behind the Yankees after finishing up a 1-5 road trip.
