KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Mark Trumbo provided the difference with a three-run homer in the second inning Sunday and the Los Angeles Angels went on to edge Kansas City 4-3.

Torii Hunter drove in the other run for Los Angeles, which took the rubber match of a three-game series.

Dan Haren (11-11) notched the win, yielding three runs (two earned) on five hits through 5 2/3 innings.

Four Angels relievers combined for 2 1/3 shutout innings and Kevin Jepsen earned his second save.

Will Smith (5-8) absorbed the loss, surrendering four runs on seven hits over five frames.

Tony Abreu socked a solo homer for the Royals.
