MLB: Pittsburgh 6, Houston 2

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Andrew McCutcheon drove in three runs and led Pittsburgh to a timely 6-2 win over the Houston Astros Tuesday.

The win broke the scuffling Pirates' four-game losing streak and kept them 2 1/2 games out of a wild card spot.

McCutcheon went 4-for-4 and scored a run. Rookie Brock Holt went 4-for-5 and Garrett Jones added an RBI for the Bucs.

Wandy Rodriguez (10-13) earned the win against his former team. Rodriguez, who was acquired from the Astros in a July trade, allowed four hits and struck out seven in seven shutout innings.

Chris Resop allowed both Houston runs in the eighth inning on RBI by Brett Wallace and Chris Snyder, but the bullpen snuffed out any further damage by allowing one hit in the final 1 1/3 innings.

Jordan Lyles (3-11) took the loss in Houston's eighth loss in their last 10 outings. Lyles allowed five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings.
