MLB: Atlanta 6, Colorado 1

ATLANTA, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Kris Medlen struck out a career-high 12 batters en route to a complete-game win Monday, lifting the Atlanta Braves to a 6-1 victory over Colorado.

Medlen (7-1), making his seventh start of the year to go along with 38 relief appearances, allowed only one unearned run and didn't issue a walk in the dominating performance.

The victory came after the right-hander had fanned nine over eight innings of five-hit ball Tuesday in a 2-0 win at San Diego.

David Ross drove in a pair of runs while Martin Prado went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the National League wild card-leading Braves, who took the first of a four-game series.

Colorado starter Tyler Chatwood (4-4) was tagged for six runs on three hits in a three-inning effort.
