NFL: Philadelphia 28, New York Jets 10

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Trent Edwards threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns Thursday in leading Philadelphia to a 28-10 exhibition victory over the New York Jets.

With Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick resting sore ribs for next week's season opener at Cleveland, Edwards turned in a solid outing in finishing off an unbeaten preseason for the Eagles.

He hit Mardy Gilyard with a 31-yard scoring pass late in the second quarter that gave Philadelphia a 14-10 halftime lead and then found Brett Brackett for a 7-yard touchdown early in the fourth period.

The majority of New York's quarterbacking was done by Greg McElroy, who missed his entire rookie season in 2011 following thumb surgery.

McElroy went 12-of-17 for 90 yards and a touchdown.

New York did not win any of its four exhibition games this year and will try to turn things around when it begins the regular season at home with an AFC East game against Buffalo.
