Colsaerts will be the only Ryder Cup rookie on the team captained by Jose Maria Olazabal.

"Nicolas, obviously, he's a rookie, but if you look at the team he's going to be the only rookie," Olazabal said. "His match play record is very good. He's had a very solid season and on top of that, he's made the extra effort trying to make the team. He really showed me he wanted to be part of that team."

The Ryder Cup, a biennial tournament pitting teams from Europe and the United States against each other, is scheduled for Sept. 28-30 at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois.

Poulter went 3-1 in helping Europe win the 2010 Ryder Cup 14 1/2-13 1/2 but the United States has claimed the competition 25 times in the 38 tournaments.

Bills release Young, pick up Jackson

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- The Buffalo Bills Monday released quarterback Vince Young and picked up signal-caller Tarvaris Jackson.

Tennessee had made Young the No. 3 overall selection in the 2006 NFL draft when Jackson was a second-round pick by Minnesota.

Young, 29, completed 48 percent of his passes over the Bills' first three pre-season games. He had no touchdown passes and two interceptions.

"I want to thank the Bills organizations of the opportunity and wish the organization and my teammates good luck this season," Young said via Twitter after he was released.

Young spent five seasons with the Titans before joining Philadelphia for the 2011 season. He has thrown for 8,964 yards and 46 touchdowns in 60 NFL games.

He was twice (2006 and '09) selected to the Pro Bowl. As a collegian at Texas, Young guided the Longhorns to a 30-2 record and finished second in the voting for the Heisman Trophy to Reggie Bush in 2005.

The Bills got Jackson from Seattle in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice.

Jackson started 14 of the 15 games he played for the Seahawks last year, setting career highs in attempts (450), completions (271), passing yards (3,091) and passing touchdowns (14).

He previously spent five years with the Vikings and has totaled 7,075 yards, 38 touchdowns and 35 interceptions in 51 career games.

Ravens place Suggs on PUP list

OWINGS MILLS, Md., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Baltimore linebacker Terrell Suggs, last season's NFL Defensive Player of the Year, will miss at least six weeks of the season after a roster move Monday.

The Ravens placed Suggs, 29, on the physically unable to perform list. That designation bars him from rejoining the Baltimore active roster for at least six weeks.

Suggs underwent Achilles tendon surgery on his right leg in May. The procedure was called a success but he hasn't been cleared to play. He has reportedly said he expects to play this season.

Suggs had 14 sacks and 70 tackles last season. He forced seven fumbles and had two interceptions in the Ravens' 12-4 season. He has 82 1/2 sacks and seven interceptions since Baltimore drafted him with the 10th overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft.

The Ravens also placed wide receiver David Reed on the PUP list while linebackers Stevie Baggs and Darryl Blackstock, safety Emanuel Cook and defensive tackle Ryan McBean were placed on injured reserve.

Dez Bryant rules: No booze, no strip clubs

IRVING, Texas, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- The Dallas Cowboys set rules, including no drinking and no strip clubs, for Dez Bryant following the latest controversy involving the receiver, his lawyer said.

Bryant must attend weekly counseling sessions and be accompanied by a team security detail if he is out after midnight, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

In July, the wide receiver was suspected of assaulting his mother. His lawyer, Royce West, denied the allegation and Bryant's mother declined to press charges.

The Dallas County district attorney's office has yet to decide whether to pursue a misdemeanor family violence charge against the former Oklahoma State standout.

Bryant was forced off his collegiate team after lying to the NCAA about a dinner he had with former Cowboys great Deion Sanders.

His draft stock plummeted and since joining the Cowboys he has had a string of encounters, including a training camp dust-up with veteran receiver Roy Williams after refusing to carry Williams' pads after practice.

Bryant's mother has had her own problems, including jail time for selling crack cocaine, ESPN reported.
