DENVER, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Peyton Manning fired two touchdown passes to Eric Decker Sunday, but the San Francisco 49ers rallied for a 29-24 pre-season win over Denver.
Manning found the end zone for the first time since joining the Broncos in the off-season after being released by Indianapolis, connecting with his wide receiver on scoring strikes of 10 and 5 yards in the first quarter.
He also led the Broncos on an opening drive that resulted in a 53-yard Matt Prater field goal.
Decker finished with four catches for 38 yards.
San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith was 5-of-7 for 69 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown toss to Vernon Davis.
Rock Cartwright's 27-yard run with 3 minutes left in the game set up a go-ahead, 49-yard field goal by David Akers for the 49ers.
