MLS: Portland 2, Vancouver 1

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Franck Songo'o scored on a free kick in the 55th minute Saturday and the Portland Timbers broke an eight-game winless skid with a 2-1 decision over Vancouver.

Songo'o broke a 1-1 tie on a low shot that Whitecaps goalkeeper Joe Cannon couldn't stop despite getting a piece of it.
