MLB: Los Angeles Angels 7, Boston 3

BOSTON, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Jered Weaver broke out of a recent slump with the help of a 15-hit attack Wednesday in boosting the Los Angeles Angels to a 7-3 victory over Boston.

The bottom four batters in the Los Angeles lineup combined for 10 hits, Torii Hunter drove in two runs and Howard Kendrick added a solo homer in bringing the Angels back-to-back wins after four straight losses.

Weaver (16-3) had lost his previous two starts and he had dropped five of the last six games he had started at Fenway Park.

He earned the win Wednesday by giving up two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in seven innings.

Boston's Clay Buchholz (11-4) had won four straight entering this contest, but he equaled a career worst by giving up 12 hits. Seven runs were charged to Buchholz in 5 1/3 innings.

The Angels were leading 4-2 when they scored three times in the seventh on Hunter's two-run single and Kendrick's homer.

Buchholz, who made the 100th appearance of his major league career, also gave up 12 hits to Baltimore in April.
