Tests show no broken bones for Vick

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick suffered rib contusions but no broken bones after taking a hit against New England, the team said Tuesday.

Vick was knocked out of Monday's pre-season game after a first-quarter hit delivered by Patriots linebacker Jermaine Cunningham as he ran out of the pocket to throw a pass.

X-rays taken after the game proved negative and further tests, including a magnetic resonance imaging exam conducted Tuesday, showed only a contusion of the ribs and the soft tissue area surrounding them, the team said.

The Eagles signal-caller amassed 3,303 yards, 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 13 games last season.
