Yankees pitcher Pineda arrested for DWI

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Injured New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda was arrested Monday in Tampa, Fla., for driving under the influence, records indicated.

Hillsborough County jail records showed Pineda, 23, was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. Monday by Tampa police, who measured his blood alcohol content at .128 and .125 percent in a pair of tests, The Tampa Bay Times reported.

That placed him well above the Florida legal impairment limit of .08, the newspaper said.

The hurler was later released from jail on $500 bail.

New York obtained the former all-star in an off-season trade that sent catcher Jesus Montero and pitcher Hector Noesi to the Seattle Mariners.

The Dominican right-hander tore the labrum in his right shoulder during spring training and was shelved for the season. He has remained at the Yankees' training facility in Tampa since then, the Times said.
