PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Forward Scott Hartnell has signed a multiyear contract extension with the Philadelphia Flyers, the team announced Monday.

The Flyers didn't announce terms of the deal, but Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia reported the contract is for six years, worth $28.5 million.

"We are pleased to announce that we have agreed with Scott on a multiyear extension," said Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren said. "Scott has been a very good player for us over the last five seasons and we look forward to many more good years to come."

The deal comes after the 30-year-old compiled his best season as a professional, amassing 37 goals and 67 points, while tying a career high with 30 assists.

The rugged winger played in all 82 regular-season games last year and added three goals and eight points in 11 post-season contests.

Hartnell has racked up 222 goals and 474 points in 843 games over 11 seasons with the Flyers and Nashville Predators.
