Biffle takes Michigan after Johnson mishap

BROOKLYN, Mich., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Greg Biffle grabbed a late lead after Jimmie Johnson's engine blew up Sunday and hung on to claim the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Biffle had just wrested second place from Michigan native Brad Keselowski when race leader Johnson lost his engine, setting up a green-white-checkered finish.

He also moved into the points with his second win of the year.

Kasey Kahne claimed third place, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. charged from the rear of the pack to finish fourth.

Marcos Ambrose completed the Top 5.
