OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Jered Weaver hurled a four-hit shutout for his 15th win of the season Monday, carrying the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-0 victory over division rival Oakland.

The Angels ace pitched his second whitewash of the season -- his first came in a May 2 no-hitter against the Minnesota Twins -- and lowered his ERA to a major league-best 2.13.

Erick Aybar went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Torii Hunter supplied a two-run single for the Angels, who leapfrogged the A's into the second American League wild card spot.

Oakland starter Jarrod Parker (7-6) was touched for four runs on nine hits in a 6 2/3-inning effort, issuing one walk while striking out six.

The A's dropped the first contest of a crucial three-game series.
