CINCINNATI, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- A.J. Burnett retired 18 straight Reds batters en route to the his 14th victory Sunday in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 6-2 win over Cincinnati.
Burnett (14-3) turned in his fourth win in four outings, controlling Cincinnati on three hits over 8 2/3 innings, yielding a pair of runs while walking three and striking out seven.
The right-hander mowed through 18 straight batters from the third through ninth innings as the second-place Pirates salvaged one victory in a three-game series against the National League Central-leading Reds.
The win put Pittsburgh 4 1/2 games behind Cincinnati.
Neil Walker went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and Starling Marte added a two-run triple for the victors.
Homer Bailey (9-7) absorbed the loss, surrendering four runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 frames as the Reds saw their five-game winning streak snapped.
Drew Stubbs socked a solo homer in the loss.
