LONDON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings, seeking their third straight Olympic gold medal, reached the semifinals Sunday in the beach volleyball tournament.
They needed just 35 minutes to defeat Italians Grega Cicolari and Marta Menegatti 21-13, 21-13, setting up a semifinal match-up on Tuesday with 2008 bronze medal winners Xhang Xi and Xue Chen of China.

The Chinese team advanced with a 21-18, 21-11 decision over Austrian sisters Stefanie and Doris Schwaiger.
The other two quarterfinals will be played Monday.
One of them find Americans April Ross and Jennifer Kessy taking on Marketa Slukova and Kristyna Kolocova of the Czech Republic.
