OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Alex Cobb tamed the Athletics on one run over seven innings Wednesday and the Tampa Bay Rays notched a 4-1 victory over Oakland.
Cobb (5-8) blanked the A's over the first four frames, allowed four hits and one walk while striking out six, and broke a personal three-start losing streak.
Joel Peralta tossed a scoreless eighth inning and Fernando Rodney racked up his 31st save as the Rays took the rubber match of a three-game series and finished a 6-3 road trip.
Carlos Pena hit a solo homer and finished with two RBI, while Ryan Roberts went 2-for-4 with an RBI single for the Rays.
Oakland's Jarrod Parker (7-5) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs on eight hits over six innings.
Brandon Inge socked a solo homer for the A's.
