Korean sets Olympic record in shooting

LONDON, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Jangmi Kim of South Korea turned in an Olympic record in qualifying Wednesday and kept her lead throughout the finals to win the Olympic 25-meter pistol event.

Kim had three scores of 10.7 or better during the 20 shots that made up the final to hold off China's Chen Ying. The winning score was 792.4. Chen had a 791.4.

Chen won the 25-meter pistol competition in Beijing.

Olena Kostevych finished third at 788.6 to win her second bronze medal of these Olympics. She earned another one in the 10-meter air pistol event.
