North Korea wins second weightlifting gold

LONDON, July 30 (UPI) -- Un Guk Kim won the second Olympic weightlifting gold medal for North Korea in as many days Monday, setting a world record in the 62-kilogram class.

Over the first three days of the London Games, North Korea has won three gold medals -- two in weightlifting and one in judo. That country won just two golds during the entire Beijing Olympics.

Kim's world record of 327 kilograms gave him the title over Oscar Figueroa of Colombia and Irawan Eko Yuli of Indonesia, who won a bronze medal at his second straight Olympics.

Zhang Jie of China, the defending world champion, finished fourth.

There was also an Olympic record set in the women's 58-kilogram class, which was won by China's Li Xueying. She lifted 246 kilograms, which made her the easy winner over Pimsiri Sirikaew of Thailand and Yuliya Kalina or Ukraine.
