MLB: Los Angeles Angels 15, Texas 8

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 30 (UPI) -- Kendrys Morales bashed a grand slam and a two-run shot during a nine-run sixth inning Monday, highlighting the Los Angeles Angels' 15-8 win over Texas.

Morales started the frame with his two-run blast, and after Bobby Wilson and Mike Trout added run-scoring hits, came up against and delivered a bases-loaded clout.

The switch-hitter went deep from each side of the plate, becoming only the third player in major league history to homer both left- and right-handed in the same inning.

Trout also homered, finishing with four RBI. Maicer Izturis went 3-for-5 with a solo shot and Albert Pujols added two RBI as the Angels banged out 16 hits, taking the first contest of a four-game set.

Ervin Santana (5-10) earned the victory, allowing three runs on four hits over five innings.

Rangers stater Roy Oswalt (3-2) was lit up for eight runs on 11 hits before exiting after 5 1/3 innings.

Nelson Cruz bashed a two-run homer and Josh Hamilton broke out of a slump, going 3-for-4 with a solo shot for American League West-leading Texas, whose lead over third-place Los Angeles shrank to four games.
