Albanian Olympian fails drug test

LONDON, July 28 (UPI) -- The IOC announced Saturday an Albanian weightlifter originally scheduled to compete in the Olympics had tested positive for a banned drug.

Hysen Pulaku, who was to have taken part in the 77-kilogram weight class, returned a positive test on July 23. The drug stanozolol was found in his system, the IOC said.

Pulaku, 19, had been dismissed from the Albanian team before the test results were made public.

Without Pulaku, Albania has 10 athletes competing in the London Games.
