Lewis holds slim lead at Evian Masters

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France, July 27 (UPI) -- Stacy Lewis, fueled by an eagle, holds a one-stroke lead at the halfway point of the LPGA's Evian Masters in France.

Lewis ended up with three birdies and two bogeys to go with her eagle at the par-5 seventh hole for a 3-under-par 69 in the second round. She is at 12-under 132 after 36 holes.

Lee Ilhee had four consecutive birdies in a 5-under 67 and pulled within one stroke of Lewis at 11-under overall. Inbee Park had the round of the day Friday with an 8-under 64 and is tied with Paula Creamer, who shot 67 Friday, for third at 9-under 135.

Lewis had seven consecutive birdies in Thursday's round but didn't have any such streak in the second round. She had a birdie at the fourth hole and the eagle at No. 7 in making the turn in 3-under.

She had her first bogeys of the tournament at Nos. 12 and 14 but got those strokes back with birdies at 15 and 18.

Lee was 1-under through 12 holes before a string of birdies over Nos. 13-16 pulled her close to Lewis's score.
