BALTIMORE, July 24 (UPI) -- Jeremy Hellickson and three Tampa Bay relievers combined on a three-hitter Tuesday, elevating the Rays to a 3-1 decision over Baltimore.
Hellickson (5-6) surrendered a fourth-inning solo homer to Adam Jones, but otherwise shut the Orioles down on three hits over 6 1/3 innings, as he logged his first win since May 16, a span of nine starts.
The right-hander didn't allow a walk and struck out four.
Jake McGee and Joel Peralta teamed up for 1 2/3 scoreless frames of relief and Fernando Rodney picked up his 28th save for Tampa Bay, which took the opener of a three-game series.
Brooks Conrad belted a go-ahead, two-run homer in the fifth inning and Jeff Keppinger added an RBI.
The Orioles' Wei-Yin Chen (8-6) was saddled with the loss, yielding three runs on four hits in 6 2/3-innings.
