MLB: Los Angeles Angels 6, Kansas City 3

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 24 (UPI) -- Kendrys Morales chased home three runs with a tie-breaking, eighth-inning single Monday, sending the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-3 win over Kansas City.

After two were out in the eighth, Alberto Callaspo singled, Maicer Izturis doubled and Peter Bourjos drew a walk from Greg Holland (4-3) to load the bases.

That brought up pinch-hitter Morales, who lined a pitch off the right field wall to drive in all three runners and hand the Angels a victory in the first of a three-game set.

Izturis finished 2-for-4 with an RBI for Los Angeles, which won for the third time in four games overall.

Morales' big hit made a winner of Kevin Jepsen (1-1) who tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of starter C.J. Wilson, while Scott Downs collected his ninth save for the Angels.

LA starter C.J. Wilson went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Alex Gordon and Brayan Pena each provided two hits and an RBI, and Eric Hosmer had two hits and scored twice for Kansas City.
